DHAKA, April 12, 2025 (BSS) — Mohammedan Sporting Club finally ended their win-drought against archrivals Abahani Limited when they secured a 39-run victory at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match.

Since the league gets the List A status in 2011, Mohammedan could never win the title. At the same time, they had achieved their last victory against the old foes in 2016.

Since then they lost 11 straight matches at the hands of Abahani, making once a high-voltage contest into insipid one.

Mohammedan in fact didn’t win the DPL title since the league gets the List A status. They won their last title in 2009-2010.

But years of heartbreak, Mohammedan this year formed a formidable team in a bid to regain the elusive trophy. They in fact turned the team into a mini national team by roping in most of the capped players.

Even though their captain Tamim Iqbal was ruled out of the league following a cardiac arrest, Mohammedan’s strength remains intact. They just showed against their old foes Abahani, which made winning DPL trophy a cake-walk.
