DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered authorities concerned to hand over the tax files of Awami League praesidium member Kazi Zafarullah, his wife Nilufar Zafarullah, their sons Kazi Omar Zafar and Kazi Raihan Zafar, and daughter Anushka Mehrin Zafar to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Foyez passed the order, directing the authorities of Dhaka Taxes Zone-8 to comply. It came up with the order, allowing a petition filed by the CID.
The petition stated that Kazi Zafarullah and individuals linked to his interests committed money-laundering offences by amassing a large amount of movable and immovable assets through fraud, forgery and extortion.
It further alleged that Kazi Zafarullah and his associated persons and entities laundered money to various countries, including the British Virgin Islands, the United Kingdom and Dubai, under their own names and those of their interest-linked entities.
"For a proper and impartial investigation, it is essential to obtain the income tax records of the accused-including all supporting documents-for the period from 2008 to 2025," the petition added.
