DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to seize tax file of Kamrun Nahar, wife of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's former personal assistant (PA) Jahangir Alam, also known as Pani Jahangir.

Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea said Kamrun Nahar has been accused by the ACC of acquiring undisclosed wealth amounting to Taka 6.80 crore in her own name.

Despite being a housewife by profession, she allegedly, with the assistance of her husband Jahangir Alam, opened seven savings and DPS accounts across four branches of two banks, deposited Taka 5.96 crore, and subsequently withdrew or transferred the accumulated funds, committing punishable offenses.

"For the sake of a thorough investigation, it is essential to seize and review her original income tax records for the assessment years 2013-14 through 2023-24, along with other relevant documents," it added.
