5 more AL leaders and activists held in city

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested five more leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations in a series of raids conducted across the capital within the last 24 hours.

According to DB officials, teams from Motijheel, Wari, and Lalbagh divisions carried out the drives in several areas of Dhaka.

The arrested individuals are: Md. Golam Mostafa (56), member, Bhedarganj Upazila Awami League, Md. Nazrul Islam Liton (55), Senior Vice President, Awami League Block Unit, Ward-7, Mirpur Police Station, Md. Mahabul Akand (20), active worker, Chhatra League, Md. Shahab Uddin (60), member, Noakhali District Awami League Convening Committee and Mir Hossain Mithu (43), active worker, Awami League.

A DB Wari Division team arrested Md. Golam Mostafa during a raid in the Mir Hazaribagh area under Wari Police Station on Monday.

On the same day, DB Lalbagh Division's Kotwali Zonal Team detained Md. Mahabul Akand from the Dhaka Medical College area, while the Lalbagh Zonal Team arrested Md. Nazrul Islam Liton from the Mirpur Police Station area.

Additionally, the Detective Motijheel Division apprehended Md. Shahab Uddin from Siddheshwari at around 3:50 pm, and later at approximately 11:45 pm, arrested Mir Hossain Mithu from the Khilgaon area.

DB sources stated that such operations will continue to prevent sabotage, sudden political gatherings, unauthorized political activities, and any attempts to disrupt law and order in the capital.
