DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to freeze 33 bank accounts of the former home minister Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and his wife Sitara Alamgir over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez passed the order, allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC petition stated that a case has been filed against Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and Sitara Alamgir on charges of depositing Taka 216.01 crore and USD 6,186 and withdrawing Taka 209.17 crore and USD 6,000 between 2009 and 2024 by transferring and converting illegally obtained funds-acquired through bribery and corruption-from one account to another.

"The accused are attempting to withdraw the funds held in their bank accounts to transfer elsewhere. There is also a possibility that the accused may launder illegally obtained money abroad using these accounts. For the sake of a proper investigation, it is essential to freeze their 33 bank accounts," it added.
