DHAKA, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - A case was filed against three people, including the acting principal of Ideal School and College, Rowshan Jahan, over an assault on a fourth-grade student by his seniors inside the classroom.

The other two accused are Mahbubur Rahman, a physical education teacher of the Mugda branch of Ideal School and College, and Arafat Nasim Akash, a Class VIII student of the institution's Bangla version.

Ayesha Siddiqa, mother of the victim Esa Bin Jahan Zayan, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rownok Jahan Taki. The court, after recording the plaintiff's statement, directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate and submit a report.

According to the case statement, the plaintiff's son, Esa Bin Jahan Zayan, was subjected to intimidation and ragging on various occasions by Arafat Nasim Akash, a Class VIII student of the same school.

It is further stated that following a complaint lodged with the school authorities on January 15, the accused student became angry and the plaintiff's son was threatened with death.

It is also alleged that no action was taken by the accused teachers, Rowshan Jahan and Mahbubur Rahman, against the student; instead, they advised Esa Bin Jahan Zayan to maintain distance from Akash.

It is further alleged that on May 20, during the tiffin and prayer break, Akash along with 10-12 others called Zayan out of the classroom and attempted to kill him by striking him near the eye and on the forehead with a machete and by choking him.

The injured student was rescued by classmates and local people and was admitted to Mugda Medical College Hospital. Later, as his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Islami Bank Central Hospital for further treatment.
