Tk 3.66 crore toll collected on Padma Bridge in 18 hours

MUNSHIGANJ, May 26, 2026 (BSS) – A total of 34,057 vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge, generating toll revenue of Tk 36,678,700 over an 18-hour period till 6:00 pm today, as Eid holidaymakers from 21 southern districts enjoyed a smooth journey via the bridge on the Dhaka–Mawa Expressway.

According to sources at the Padma Bridge site office, there was no traffic congestion at the toll plaza on the second day of the seven-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday, and vehicles moved smoothly.

From midnight until 6:00 pm today, 23,634 southbound vehicles crossed through the Mawa end of the bridge, generating Tk 21,860,150 in toll revenue.

Meanwhile, 10,423 Dhaka-bound vehicles crossed through the Jajira end, with toll collections amounting to Tk 14,768,550.

Executive Engineer Abu Sayeed of the Padma Bridge site office told BSS that 10 booths — including three motorcycle booths — have been opened at the Mawa end, while nine booths — including two motorcycle booths — are operating at the Jajira end to ensure faster toll collection and smooth travel for southbound vehicles on the Dhaka–Mawa Expressway.
