Daulatdia ferry ghat under strict surveillance to ensure smooth Eid travel

RAJBARI, May 26, 2026 (BSS) - Authorities have intensified monitoring and security measures at Daulatdia ferry ghat to ensure uninterrupted movement of passengers and vehicles ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

To facilitate the safe and smooth journey of homebound travelers and the transportation of sacrificial animals, Rajbari district and police administrations have stepped up coordinated efforts across the ferry terminal area.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajbari Afroza Parveen and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Monjur Morshed conducted an on-site inspection of the Daulatdia ferry terminal and its surrounding management facilities on Monday.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tarif Ul Hasan, Executive Magistrate Uchaney Me, Goalanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sathi Das, Goalanda Naval Police officer Trinath Saha and BIWTC Assistant Director Md. Salauddin were present at that time.

Official sources said that the administration has taken special precautions following the tragic bus accident at Daulatdia on March 25 that claimed 26 lives, with an aim to prevent similar incidents during the Eid travel rush.

Law enforcement agencies have increased surveillance over vehicle crossings, passenger movement and the loading and unloading of vehicles onto ferries. Authorities have also introduced round-the-clock monitoring by officials from various departments connected to ferry operations in an effort to reduce public sufferings and keep traffic congestion under control.

DC Afroza Parveen said, the district administration, police, BIWTC and all relevant agencies are working jointly to ensure hassle-free travel for people returning home for Eid. Necessary measures have been taken to control traffic congestion in the ferry terminal area, ensure passenger safety and facilitate the quick transportation of trucks carrying sacrificial animals, she said adding that continuous monitoring is underway so that people can return home comfortably and safely.

Speaking after the inspection, SP Mohammad Monjur Morshed said, additional police personnel have been deployed at Daulatdia ferry terminal area ahead of Eid. Several teams of river police are working round the clock to ensure the normal movement of passengers and vehicles, he added.
