NETROKONA, May 26, 2026 (BSS) - Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Kaiser Kamal has set an example of humanity by standing beside Monowara Begum, who lost her house in a devastating nor’wester recently.
The house built under the Deputy Speaker’s personal initiative was formally handed over to Monowara Begum at Borokhapon village under Kalmakanda upazila here. Receiving the new home ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha left her overwhelmed with emotion.
According to the local sources, the violent storm that struck on April 26 completely destroyed the only dwelling house of 59-year-old Monowara Begum. Having lost her husband many years ago and her only son in a road accident five years back, she had been living in extreme hardship after the disaster.
Later, on April 28, local content creator Abdur Rashid highlighted Monowara Begum’s plight on social media, drawing widespread attention. After hearing on the matter, Kaiser Kamal immediately took steps to inquire about her condition and assured the construction of a new home for her.
Keeping his promise, the house was completed within a short period and handed over to her today as an Eid gift.
Speaking emotionally after receiving the house, Monowara Begum said, “The storm had taken everything away from me. I did not know where I would live. The Deputy Speaker has given me a new home. I pray to Allah for him.”
Local dignitaries were present at the handover ceremony. Special prayers were also offered for Monowara Begum’s peace and well-being, as well as for the prosperity of the country and the nation.
Residents of the area said the Deputy Speaker’s gesture of standing beside a helpless woman has created a positive and inspiring example of humanity in the society.
