DHAKA, May 26, 2026 (BSS) – A minor girl was killed in a road accident on Hajiganj–Ramganj road in front of Jianagar Oni-Roni Bricks under Hajiganj upazila in the district this morning.

The deceased, Mim Akter, 8, was the daughter of Iman Hossain from of Borokul Purba Union under Hajiganj upazila. She was a third-grade student at a local madrasa.

According to police and local sources, Mim was standing beside the road with her grandmother on Tuesday morning. 

At one point, she suddenly broke free from her grandmother’s hand and ran across the road. A cement-laden truck traveling toward Ramganj in Lakshmipur hit her leaving dead on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Mannan of Hajiganj Police Station confirmed that police have seized the truck involved in the accident and that legal proceedings are underway.
