DHAKA, April 13, 2025 (BSS)—Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Liton Das clarified his decision to return from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after being injured, saying that due to national team’s packed scheduled he needs to focus intensively on full recovery.

Liton picked up a finger injury during his PSL team Karachi Kings’ practice session and scans revealed a hairline fracture which will take at least two weeks to heal up.

“Recovering from an injury like this usually takes two to three weeks to heal and then there is matter of gaining match fitness,” Liton told the reporters after arriving in Dhaka in the early hours of Sunday.

“With the national team's fixtures coming up, I felt that it was important to focus on recovery. That’s why I decided to return.”

Liton said the Karachi Kings team management was supportive all through the time.

"They were really helpful. Mentally, they were very supportive,” he said adding that the team management left the entire decision on him.

“They knew it would take some time to recover from the injury fully and gave me space to understand the extent of the pain.”

But playing such a high-intensity tournament without proper training is really difficult, he said.

Liton, however, was frustrated after being ruled out of the tournament without playing any match.

“I couldn’t take anything positive from this PSL and in fact it was all a loss. I think I lost more than I gained,” he rued.

The 10th edition of the PSL   started on April 11. And Liton's team, Karachi Kings made a rousing start by pulling off a thrilling four-wicket win over against Multan Sultans.

Opting to bat first, Multan racked up a mammoth 234-3, thanks to a century from Captain Mohammad Rizwan. But Karachi chased it down effortlessly, with four balls and four wickets to spare, emboldened by a century from James Vince.
