Mohammedan, Abahani derby end goalless draw

DHAKA, April 26, 2025 (BSS)- League leader Mohammedan Sporting Club split point with their arch-rival Abahani Limited Dhaka when their match ended in a tame goalless draw in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla today (Saturday).

In the day’s match, both the teams got several scoring chances but failed to break the deadlock in the proceeding and eventually both the teams had to leave the field sharing one point each.

Mohammedan were reduced to ten men by the referee as Mohammad Mahbub Alam was shown direct red card in the 42nd minute of the match With day’s outcome, the traditional black and white Motijheel brigade  maintained top position in the league table 31 points from 12 matches while the sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited, standing second position in the league table, collected 17 points playing the same number of outings.
 
Earlier, in the first leg, Mohammedan edged past Abahani Limited by a solitary goal held at the same venue.
