Committee calls again to withdraw political harassment cases

DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - The national committee on reviewing harassment cases again urged the political parties to submit the FIR of the cases to the solicitor of the law ministry within November 30 to withdraw political harassment cases quickly filed during the regime of Awami League government.

The solicitor wing of the law ministry already has asked the public prosecutor/city public prosecutor to send the lists of the cases which known as ‘false cases’ have been filed against the political leaders and activists between January 6, 2009 and August 5, 2024 particularly before and after the parliament elections in 2014, 2018 and 2024, said an official handout here today.

Public notices have been published in the daily newspapers aiming to make the case withdrawing activities speedy and more inclusive.

So, the national committee on reviewing the harassment cases has already recommended withdrawing nearly 20,000 cases.
