Junior Tigers make disastrous start to Sri Lanka tour

DHAKA, April 26, 2025 (BSS)-The Bangladesh Under-19 team made a horrible
start to their Sri Lanka tour by succumbing to a 98-run defeat to the hosts
in the first of six-match Youth ODI series at Colombo Cricket Club Ground
today.

Electing to bat first, Sri Lankan youngsters put up 241-6, thanks to Chamika
Heenatigala's 78 and Kaviza Gamage's 60 not out. Senuja Wekunagoda also hit
50 to complement the duo.

Iqbal Hossain Emon and Rizan Hossan took two wickets apiece.

In reply, Bangladesh failed to put up minimum resistance with the willow,
that paved their way to a big defeat.

Opener Kalam Siddiki top-scored with 46 while captain Azizul Hakim Tamim who
made 24 was the only other to cross 20-run mark. Bangladesh eventually were
bundled out for just in 33.3 overs.

Vigneshwaran Akash claimed 5-35 to dismantle Bangladesh's batting line up.

The next five matches will be held on April 28, 30, May 3, 5 and 8.
