DHAKA, June 3, 2025 (BSS) - United Arab Emirates (UAE) captain Muhammad Waseem who led the side to a remarkable T20 series victory over Bangladesh earned the nomination for the ICC player of the month for May.

The ICC today revealed the name of the three nominees which also included Brendon McMullen of Scotland and Milind kumar of USA.

Led by Waseem, UAE beat Bangladesh in three-match series by 2-1 to spring a surprise. Waseem led the side from the front, scoring 54 and 82 in the first two matches. He was later adjudged man of the series.

He also showed his worth in ODIs during this period by scoring 169 runs in five matches playing as a middle-order batter in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 matches.

Bangladesh allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz won this award in the last month. However, no Bangladesh players were nominated in this month after their disastrous performance.

Bangladesh followed the shocking UAE series loss with another calamitous 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Pakistan.
