DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has said law enforcement agencies have strengthened security measures across the country ahead of the verdict in the crimes against humanity case against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Talking to BSS, the IGP today said there is no major security threat at the moment, as a sufficient number of police personnel have been deployed across the country, including in the capital Dhaka, to ensure security. Police remain alert to any potential criminal activities, he added.
Besides, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S N Nazrul Islam this morning told this reporter that 15,000 police personnel have been deployed across the capital to maintain security.
He said security has been beefed up in Dhaka ahead of the verdict, adding that there is no security threat and city residents can move around without fear.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury inspected the Barishal District Police Lines and held a meeting with senior officials of law enforcement and the administration.
Following the inspection, he said that all agencies are fully prepared ahead of the tribunal's verdict in Sheikh Hasina's case.

Meanwhile, since Sunday, members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Dhaka, Gopalganj, Faridpur and Madaripur districts to maintain law and order.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) has started pronouncing its judgment in a crimes against humanity case against three accused - including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina - over their superior command responsibility for offences committed during the July Mass Uprising.
The three-member ICT-1 panel, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, fixed the date on November 13.
