DHAKA, July 5, 2025 (BSS) - The high-flying Bangladesh women's football team will take on Turkmenistan in their final Group C match of the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers at the Thuwunna Stadium here today.

The match kicks off at 6.30 pm (Bangladesh time).

The girls in red and green are looking to end their group campaign on a high note, having already created history by qualifying for the final stage of the AFC Women's Asian Cup for the first time in the country's football history following a 2-1 win over hosts Myanmar last Wednesday.

A 2-2 draw between Bahrain and Turkmenistan in the same group ensured Bangladesh's place as group champions with one match in hand, confirming their spot in the final round of the continental competition.

Forward Ritu Porna Chakma, who scored both goals in the historic win against Myanmar, is expected to play a key role again in today's match. Head coach Peter Butler will be looking for another impactful performance from her against Turkmenistan, the lowest-ranked side in the group (FIFA Rank 141).

Bangladesh have so far earned six points from two matches. Myanmar have three points, while Bahrain and Turkmenistan have one point each. Even if Bangladesh lose their final group match and Myanmar beat Bahrain to also reach six points, Bangladesh will still top the group due to their head-to-head victory over Myanmar.

Team officials said the squad is in good condition ahead of the final group fixture, barring a few minor injuries. The coaching staff is ensuring adequate recovery support for the players.
