DHAKA, July 5, 2025 (BSS)—Opener Parvez Hossain Emon repaid the team management’s faith on him by hitting a half-century in his only second ODI.

He struck a brilliant 69 ball-67 in Bangladesh second ODI against Sri Lanka at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today. Bangladesh were playing this match to level the three-match series following a 77-run defeat in the first match.

After cementing his place in the T20 format, Emon was given chance to show his ODI credential as he made debut in the first match against Sri Lanka. He failed to live up to the expectation in that match, scoring just 13.

However, he proved that he is the horse of long race. He brought up his usual flamboyance in the match despite the early departure of in form Tanzid Hasan Tamim and kept the side flowing.

The 23-year old brought up his fifty off just 48 balls and helped Bangladesh maintain six plus run rate. However after reaching his fifty, he slowed down, largely because of the introduction of Wanindu Hasanranga whose googly and cunning leg-break he got tough to deal with.

Emon, who smashed six fours and three sixes in his innings, eventually was undone by the googly of Hasaranga.

After his dismissal, Bangladesh’s run rate further hit a low.
