DHAKA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS)- Channel SK emerged as champions in the traditional London Bangla Press Club Football tournament beating One Bangla Friends United by 4-3 goals in a penalty shootout held in East London Stepney Green football ground on Sunday last.

After the match, the prize distribution ceremony was held in a festive atmosphere.

Anwar Aldin, chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and joint editor of Dainik Ittefaq, was the chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony, presided over by London Bangla Press Club president Md Jubayer and conducted by its general secretary Taisir Mahmud.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Anwar Aldeen said, "Football is our heritage. Our emotional, nostalgic love and intense obsession are mixed with football. The young generation in Bangladesh is focused on cricket. Football is gradually losing its popularity due to various reasons. But I came almost 10,000 kilometers away from Bangladesh and enjoyed the popular game of Bangladesh here.”

“I found the lost Mohammedan here. I was impressed by the skills of other teams. We want this football to rise to its glorious place in future,” he added.

Bahar Uddin and Shahidur Rahman Suhel jointly emerged as the highest scorers of the meet while Zakir Hossain was given the best goal keeping award.

Besides, Abdul Shobhan was named the man of the match in the final.

A total of six teams, split into two groups, took part in the tournament. The teams are One Bangla United, Bangla Kagaj, Channel S, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Desh-Potrika United and UK Bangla Live United.
