DHAKA, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) — Bangladesh wants to prepare them for the next year’s T20 World Cup with the three-match series against West Indies.
All three matches are scheduled at Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram with the opening game taking place tomorrow (Monday).
The match starts at 6 PM and will be aired live on T Sports and Nagorik TV.
Bangladesh only have two T20I series in their schedule before the showpiece event, one against the Caribbean followed by a three-match series at home against Ireland next month.
While they are eyeing World Cup preparation, a winning start is imperative for Bangladesh as they are eyeing to clinch their fifth straight T20 series, having won series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Netherlands and Afghanistan.
The hosts have recently won the ODI series by 2-1 but a Super Over defeat in the second game was a spot of bother for them.
Bangladesh whitewashed West Indies in three-match T20 series when the sides met in this format last year on Caribbean Island.
The recent T20 juggernaut and the last series victory over West Indies made Bangladesh ultimate favourite, something which they want to justify by dominating the Caribbean side.
Bangladesh will be further motivated by the return of captain Liton Das, also their most inform batter and the country’s highest run-getter in this format.
Liton, the T20 captain of Bangladesh, sustained an injury during the Asia Cup which eventually ruled him out of the crucial matches against India and Pakistan and subsequent white-ball series against Afghanistan. He also missed the ODI series against West Indies in Dhaka.
However, Liton said they need to be challenged strongly in both the series against West Indies and Ireland for a proper World Cup preparation.
“Honestly speaking, I want our players to be challenged in those two series, be it in bowling or batting," Liton told the reporters in the pre-match press conference in Chattogram today.
"Being challenged strongly would help us in the upcoming World Cup,” he added.
A victory in the first match, however, would help Bangladesh level in terms win-loss ratio for the first time against West Indies. The sides so far met 19 times in this format with Bangladesh winning eight and losing nine.
