Women's Hockey tournament to begin Sunday

DHAKA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - BRAC Bank Aparajeyo Alo Women's Hockey tournament 
will begin from Sunday (Nov 2) with the Rajshahi zone.

A total of 18 district teams, split into four zones, across the country, will 
take part in the meet, sponsored by BRAC Bank and organised by Bangladesh 
Hockey Federation (BHF).

The other three zones of the tournament are Mymensingh, Jashore and Cumilla. 

Addressing a press conference held at BHF conference room today (Thursday) 
its general secretary Lt Col (rtd) Riazul Hasan said the tournament has been 
divided in two phases.

In the first phase, the champion team will come out from each zone. 

Later, the four champion teams from the zones along with Bangladesh Krira 
Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) will take part in the second phase which will be 
held in Dhaka in December.

"BRAC Bank has come forward to stand beside us and we hope they will extend 
their helping hand for the development of the country's women's hockey in the 
future," the general secretary said.

Chief Communication Officer of BRAC Bank Iqram Kabir, who was present in the 
press conference, said they want more women's participating in hockey so that 
the women can make them prepare for the national level.

They have intention to work with the BHF in the coming years for the 
development of women's hockey, he added.
