Zanzibar notch 1st win in Women's Kabaddi World Cup

DHAKA, Nov 18, 2025 (BSS)- Zanzibar posted their first win the Women's 
Kabaddi World Cup, bouncing back strongly after their opening defeat beating 
Poland by 79-10 points in the second match held at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor 
Stadium at Mirpur here today (Tuesday).

Zanzibar dominated the first half with a 38-6 points lead. Maintaining 
complete control across both halves, the East African nation wrapped up the 
match with a resounding win.

Zanzibar captain Sumaiyya Ame Hassan, speaking to the media after the match, 
expressed her delight at the team's maiden victory.

"Today we discussed our match because yesterday (Monday) we lost, but today 
we discussed how to play well, we told everybody to be relaxed, to be cool," 
she said.

"Yes, we expect to win the match. Yesterday (Monday) we saw their (Poland) 
techniques and we learnt how to win today.

"We are going to prepare for the next game, we want to win the next game and 
we hope to play in the final," Sumaiyya Ame Hassan added.

In their first Group B outing, the East African side had lost 16-56 to Nepal.
