
DHAKA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - Veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim led Bangladesh batting in the ICC Test rankings, updated today, after his landmark century in the second and final cricket Test against Ireland recently.
Mushfiqur, who became the first cricketer from Bangladesh to play the 100th Test, made the occasion more memorable by hitting 106 and then followed it up with 53 not out in the second innings.
In doing so, he became the only 11th batter in the cricket history to hit a century in the 100th Test.
The performance was recognized in the ranking updates as he moved up seven places to 30th, the best by a Bangladesh Test batter.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam who also reached a milestone in the same Test climbed in the rankings.
Taijul went past Shakib Al Hasan as the highest wicket-taker for the country and then became the first bowler from Bangladesh to claim 250 Test wickets, after ending a match haul of eight wickets.
Having done so, Taijul gained four spots to reach 15th among Test bowlers, making him the highest-ranked Bangladeshi bowler in the format.
Liton Das and Mominul Haque also saw an improvement in the rankings after showing good performance in the last Test.
Liton who made 128, leapfrogged eight spots to 37th, and Mominul Islam rose eight places to 46th, following his 63 and 87 in the both innings of the Test.
Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy hit a monumental 171 in the first Test and followed it with 34 and 60 runs in the two innings of second Test, helping him gain two positions to sit at 72nd.
