Afghan pacer Zia Sharifi joins Dhaka Capitals to play BPL

DHAKA, Dec 10, 2026 (BSS)- Afghanistan pacer Ziaur Rahman Sharifi is set to 
make his debut in an overseas franchise league, as Dhaka Capitals have 
acquired his services for the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Premier 
League (BPL) T20 tournament. 

The Dhaka franchise announced the signing on their official Facebook page 
today.

Ziaur made an impressive start to his Test career, claiming seven wickets 
against Zimbabwe in recent matches.
 
He has also played one T20 International for Afghanistan. In domestic T20 
cricket, Ziaur has played 31 matches, taking 37 wickets, showcasing his 
potential as a valuable bowler.

Dhaka Capitals have already secured the services of Saif Hassan, Taskin 
Ahmed, Alex Hales, and Usman Khan through direct signings. 

The franchise has appointed Toby Radford as their Head Coach and Pakistan 
cricket legend Shoaib Akhtar as their Mentor, further bolstering their 
coaching staff.
