Omarzai leaves Sylhet to join Afghanistan for nat’l duty

DHAKA, Jan 10, 2026 (BSS) - Sylhet Titans all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai left the franchise to join his national team Afghanistan which will play a series against West Indies as part of their preparation for the Afghanistan national team.

Sylhet confirmed the news through a video message of Omarzai in their social media page today.

“I love to play BPL. It’s a tournament where my franchise cricket career started. I will love to come here in the next year as well,” Omarzai said in the video message, confirming his departure from the tournament.

Omarzai made his BPL debut in 2022 with Sylhet Sixers, which was his first franchise tournament. Later, he became regular in big domestic tournaments in the world.

He also thanked the Sylhet supporters for their selfless support toward the team.

“Sylhet supporters have been excellent. They came here in abundance to support us despite we lost some matches. I enjoyed my time here,” he said.

Omarzai made 151 runs and took six wickets in six matches for Sylhet in this season. Sylhet Titans management also thanked Omarzai for his contribution.
