Army suffer first defeat in women’s football league

DHAKA, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS) - Ten men Bangladesh Army Sports Club suffered their first defeat in the Women’s Football League when they were beaten by old Dhaka outfit Farashganj Sporting Club by a lone goal held at  Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur today (Saturday). 

After the barren first half, Shamsunnahar Jr. scored the all-important goal for Farashganj in the 82nd minute of the match.

Unnoti Khatun of Bangladesh Army was shown direct red card by the referee in the 90th minute for her unsporting behavior in the match.
  
With the day’s win, Farashganj, who still maintained their all-win run in the league, moved up their tally with 15 points from five matches while Bangladesh Army slipped to second position also with 15 points from six outings.
