DHAKA, June 4, 2026 (BSS)- National team bowling coach Shaun Tait has resigned from his role, citing family reasons, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced today.

“Since informing the BCB of his circumstances, Shaun had expressed his willingness to continue in the role with a shortened time,” BCB said in a press release.

“However, it was ultimately agreed that stepping down from the position was the most appropriate course of action. The decision has been reached amicably and with mutual understanding,” the release added.

Former Australia fast bowler Tait’s resignation came at a moment when Bangladesh were preparing for white-ball home series against mighty Australia.

A BCB insider said, former Bangladesh pacer Talha Jubair will supervise Bangladesh’s bowling in interim basis during the Australia series.

Tait joined the national team support staff in May 2025 and has made a significant contribution to the development of the country's fast-bowling resources.

During his tenure, he played an important role in sharpening what has become a growing and potent Bangladesh pace attack, helping the fast bowlers improve their skills, consistency and effectiveness across formats.

The former Australia fast bowler was also part of a successful period for the Bangladesh national team, with the side producing a number of notable performances and results during his time with the team.

"It has been a privilege to work with the Bangladesh National Team and to be part of a talented and committed group of players and support staff,” Tait said in a statement.

“This was not an easy decision, and I sincerely appreciate the understanding and support shown by the BCB throughout our discussions. I am proud of what the pace bowlers have achieved and I believe they have an exciting future ahead. I wish the team every success going forward."

The BCB extended its sincere gratitude to Shaun Tait for his valuable service and contribution to Bangladesh cricket and wishes him continued success in his future commitments.
