South Asian Karate championship to begin Saturday

DHAKA, July 15, 2026 (BSS)- The 10th Cadet, Junior, Under-21 and Senior South Asian Karate Championship and the second South Asian Under-14 Karate Cup will 
be held in Dhaka from July 18-19.

The two-day tournament is being organised by the South Asian Karate Federation with the support of the Bangladesh Karate Federation (BKF).

Ahead of the championship, a two-day referee and coaches' licensing examination begins tomorrow (Thursday) at the Parbotto Complex Auditorium in 
the capital. 

More than 150 referees and coaches from Bangladesh as well as several South Asian and Asian countries are expected to take part in the examination.

The championship, to be staged at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur, will feature 565 athletes from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, 
Bhutan and Sri Lanka, competing in various categories.

Ahead of the tournament, a press conference was held today (Wednesday) at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Auditorium to provide all the details of 
the meet.

BKF President Md. Shahzada Alam, its General Secretary Md. Moyazzem Hossain Sentu, Joint General Secretary Kabir Akbar Chowdhury Taj, Executive Committee 
Members Abul Kalam Azad and Masudul Islam were, among others, present in the press conference.
