NSC dissolves 27 federation's ad-hoc committees, orders elections within 3- month

DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS)- The National Sports Council (NSC) on Saturday 
dissolved the existing ad-hoc committees of 27 national sports federations 
and associations, directing them to hold elections within the next three 
months.

The 27 sports federation are Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation, Bangladesh 
Archery Federation, Bangladesh Washu Federation, Bangladesh Athletics 
Federation, Bangladesh Amateur Boxing Federation, Bangladesh Amateur 
Wrestling Federation, Bangladesh Karate Federation, Bangladesh Carrom 
Federation, Bangladesh Kho Kho Federation, Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation, 
Bangladesh Judo Federation, Bangladesh Tennis Federation, Bangladesh Table 
Tennis Federation, Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation, Bangladesh Chess 
Federation, Fencing Union, Bangladesh Badminton Federation, Bangladesh 
Volleyball Federation, Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation, Bangladesh 
Women's Sports Association, Bangladesh Rugby Association, Bangladesh Rowing 
Federation, Bangladesh Shooting Federation, Bangladesh Cycling Federation, 
Bangladesh Swimming Federation, Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Bangladesh 
Handball Federation. 

According to the NSC, the ad-hoc committees were dissolved because they 
failed to fulfil their responsibility of conducting elections and handing 
over authority to elected committees within the stipulated period.

The order was issued subject to the approval of the competent authority, and 
the newly-constituted ad-hoc committees will become effective from the date 
of issuance of the order.
