RANGPUR, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - The Rangpur divisional administration today accorded a warm reception to the champion girls' football team after they won the title in the inaugural 'Natun Kuri Sports 2026'.

The champions were taken on a victory procession through the city's main roads in an open truck from Shaheed Abu Sayeed Stadium before being felicitated at the conference room of the divisional commissioner.

Rangpur clinched the girls' football title by defeating Rajshahi division 4-0 in the final at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Dhaka on Monday.

Speaking at the reception, Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam congratulated the players, coaches and all those who contributed to the team's success, expressing hope that the young footballers would continue their achievements and represent the country at the highest level in the future.

The Rangpur division also performed well in other events of the competition, winning the girls' kabaddi title, finishing runners-up in the boys' cricket and kabaddi events, and securing medals in athletics, badminton and judo.

Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Additional Divisional Commissioner Motaleb Hossain Sarkar, Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Md Shamsuzzaman Samu, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin and other senior officials attended the reception.
