PATUAKHALI, March 29, 2025 (BSS) - Kuakata, the scenic coastal town in the district, is all set to welcome hundreds of thousands of tourists on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

With the government announcing a six-day holiday, extended to nine days including the weekends, it's expected that a large number of visitors will flock to the town, popularly known as the Sea Princess (Sagor Kanya).

Local businesses from 16 different professions in Kuakata are eagerly preparing to greet the holidaymakers, and hotel bookings have already started pouring in.

According different hotel officials, as of Friday (March 28) about 50-60 percent of the rooms in first-class hotels and 30-40 percent of the rooms in second-class hotels have already been booked in advance.

Earlier, a meeting was held with local stakeholders, representatives of 16 professions, public representatives, and the tourist police to ensure overall security, maximum facilities, and safe travel for tourists.

Hotels and motels have been decorated with colorful lights to welcome tourists while the roads have been beautified.

Secretary General of Tour Operators' Association of Kuakata (TOAK), Zahirul Islam said Kuakata was devoid of tourists during the entire month of Holy Ramadan. Taking advantage of that, hotels and motels have been cleaned up and made prepared, he said, adding, they hope that millions of tourists will arrive in Kuakata during the Eid holidays.

Sikder Resort and Villa AGM Al-Amin Khan Ujjal said that 60 percent of rooms at their resort have already been booked in advance.

"We hope that we will get full bookings in the remaining days. We have taken all-out preparation to provide the best service to the tourists," he said.

Md Rabiul Islam, member secretary of the Kuakata Beach Management Committee and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), stated that the committee has completed all necessary preparations to accommodate the influx of additional tourists during this Eid vacation.

In addition to regular security, extra magistrates, scouts, volunteers, and rescue team members will be deployed in multiple teams to ensure the safety of holidaymakers.

Shakhawat Hossain Topu, the Tourist Police Kuakata Zone In-charge, said that comprehensive measures have been put in place to safeguard tourists during the Eid holiday.

Several Tourist Police teams will be assigned to various locations, ranging from Lemburban to the Ramnabad Channel, he stated.
