COX'S BAZAR, Sept 26, 2025 (BSS) - The world's longest sea beach Cox's Bazar is witnessing a huge surge in tourists due to Durga Puja and the weekend.

From the sand dunes to the saltwater, the area is filled with visitors enjoying leisure and joy with their families, effectively transforming the seaside into a festive mood.

This massive influx of tourists was observed starting from 10am on Friday. The surge is largely attributed to the weekly holiday, drawing tourists from far and near.

Heavy crowding is evident across various sections of the sea beach, including Sugandha, Laboni, Shaibal, and Kolatoli Points.

Tourists are engaging in several activities in the saltwater, including sea bathing, riding jet skis, utilizing beach bikes, and horseback riding. Many visitors are also busy capturing their memorable moments in camera frames.

Md. Ruhul Amin, senior lifeguard staff of the Sea Safe Lifeguard organization, reported that more than 100,000 tourists are currently at Cox's Bazar sea beach, with the majority participating in sea bathing.

Despite the festivities, the sea remains rough, with a high intensity of waves. Signal No. 3 is currently in effect.

To ensure the safety of sea bathers, red flags have been hoisted on the sand dunes. Lifeguard personnel are maintaining a state of high vigilance.

Ruhul Amin noted that although they are striving to keep tourists safe during sea bathing, providing safety to such a vast number of people is difficult given the turbulent sea conditions.

The significant arrival of tourists has revitalized the business along the seaside. The busy environment is widespread, affecting vendors ranging from photographers to shops selling Burmese and other seashell products.
