BOGURA, April 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Boro paddy and wheat procurement drive was inaugurated in the district today amid much enthusiasm.

Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza inaugurated the programme as the chief guest around 11.30 am at Chaksutrapur District Food Department of the town with District Food Controller Saiful Kabir Khan in the chair.

The chief guest said that the government will purchase rice at Taka 49 per kg and paddy at Taka 36 per kg during the Boro season.

We hope that the farmers will benefit from the price of paddy and rice that the government has fixed. At the same time, mill owners will also be able to easily supply their produced rice to the warehouse, she said.  

The government has fixed the price of paddy, rice and wheat so that both the farmers and the millers get a fair price.

It was addressed, among others, by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Abdul Wazed, District Assistant Food Controller Md. Yusuf Ali, Sadar Upazila Food Controller Harun-ur-Rashid, Sadar LSD Officer-in-Charge SM Atiqul Islam, Betgari LSD Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman, Namuja LSD Officer-in-Charge Nitya Nanda Pal, District Rice Mill Owners Association President ATM Aminul Haque, Sadar Upazila Rice Mill Owners Association President Farid Uddin Sarkar, Kibiria Auto Mill owner Golam Kibria Bahar, Tanvir Auto Mill owner Ketaur Rahman and farmer Russell Hossain.

The government has set the procurement price of paddy per kg at Taka 36, the procurement price of boiled rice at Taka 49, the price of atab rice at Taka 48 and the price of wheat at Taka 36 per kg.

The target for boiled rice procurement in Sadar upazila has been set at 11,678 metric tons. The target for paddy procurement has been set at 636 metric tons.
