Ministry of Commerce to strengthen market monitoring

DHAKA, Feb 18, 2025 (BSS) – The Ministry of Commerce will strengthen its market monitoring in the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadan.

The decision was taken at a workshop held at the Ministry of Commerce Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat today organized in participation with the leaders of teams formed for keeping the prices of essential items stable in the kitchen markets in the Dhaka metropolitan area.

Commerce Secretary M Abdur Rahim (Routine Charge) spoke at the workshop as the chief guest, said a Commerce Ministry press release.

Speaking before the team leaders, Rahim said that the market monitoring teams of the ministry have been conducting its operations regularly in Dhaka metropolis alongside conducting operations by the special taskforce in the concerned district administrations.

Apart from this, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has also been monitoring the market.

He informed that from tomorrow, three market monitoring teams would remain active in the Dhaka metropolitan centring the Holy Month. Besides;  some 10 teams from the DNCRP would also remain active centring the Holy Month.

The workshop was informed that monitoring operations would continue at the kitchen markets, grocery shops and super shops to keep the prices of the essential commodities stable.
