10,850 tonnes of rice arrives at Chattogram Port from India

DHAKA, April 3, 2025 (BSS) - MV HT Unit ship carrying 10,850 tonnes of rice from India has arrived at Chittagong Port today.

The ship carrying 10,850 tonnes of parboiled Indian rice arrived at Chattogram Port under the International Open Tender Agreement (Package-8), said a release of the food ministry this morning.

Under the agreement, a total of 500,000 tonnes of rice has been decided to be imported from India earlier.

Of this, a total of 450,000 tonnes of rice will be imported in nine consignments and already, 366,769 tons of rice has already reached here, it mentioned.

Sample testing of rice kept on the ship has already been completed and the rice unloading process will begin soon.

Necessary measures have been taken for this, the release added.
