Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, May 19, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to mainly price
fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, again declined by 14.8 points to settle at
4,776 points, as against 4,791 points in the previous trading session.

Trading activities remained stagnant with total turnover in DSE being low at
Taka 2.9 billion.

On the sectoral front, Bank (19.2 percent) issues exerted the highest
turnover, followed by Textile (12.9 percent) and Mutual Fund (11.3 percent)
sectors.

Most of the sectors displayed dismal returns, out of which Mutual Fund (-1.8
percent), Paper (-1.4 percent) and Food (-1.4percent) exerted the most
correction on the bourse today, while Textile (1.8 percent), Ceramic (0.8
percent) and Travel (0.7 percent) exhibited marginal gains.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 121 advanced, 200 declined and 76 remained
unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on the red zone. The Selective
Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell by 13.2
points and 25.1 points, respectively.
