DHAKA, May 22, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)--today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 16.2 points to settle at 4,785 points as against 4,801 points in the previous trading session.

Market analysts observed that despite the indices being afloat till the mid-session, risk-averse investors' subsequent cautious selling approach eroded the early gains, ultimately reflecting the waning investor confidence.

Apparently, trading activities remained stagnant with total turnover in DSE being low at Taka 2.5 billion.

On the sectoral front, Pharma (17.2%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Food (12.9%) and Engineering (11.6%) sectors.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 113 advanced, 197 declined and 87 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on the red zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell by 14.4 points and 14.6 points, respectively.
