Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, June 03, 2025 (BSS) -Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 24.7 points to settle at 4,665 points as against 4,690 points in the previous trading session. 
 
Trading activities remained stagnant with total turnover in OSE being low at just Taka 2.3 billion as most investors opted to remain observant of the market's momentum, while upcoming long Eid holidays also contributed to the subdued market participation. 
 
On the sectoral front, Bank (20.3%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Food (17.4%) and Textile (9.2%) sectors. Sectors mostly displayed dismal returns, out of which Financial institutions (-2.2%), Services (-1.4%) and Textile (-1.2%) exerted the most correction on the bourse today, while Jute (7.7%), Travel (0.8%) and Cement (0.2%) exhibited some gains. 
 
Out of the 397 issues traded, 92 advanced, 239 declined and 66 remained unchanged.
 
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a mixed note. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) edged down by 1.3 points, while All Share Price Index (CASPI) inched up by 3.1 points.
