DHAKA, June 04, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President Taskeen Ahmed today urged all the ports of the country to keep their export-import activities normal during the long vacation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and other festivals.

"During the long holiday, all ports should keep their export-import activities normal," he said in a press statement.

Leader of one of the largest trade organisations of the country, Taskeen Ahmed, said most of the importers of the country are using Chittagong Port for importing goods.

"Traffic congestion on the highway, inadequate infrastructure facilities at the port and delay in the unloading process at the port often cause severe traffic congestions in the port area. For this, importers of all industry sectors are facing various challenges," he added.

He said, "Without improving the supply chain, logistics management and communication infrastructure of Chittagong port, mere increasing store rent four-fold will enhance the cost of doing business, as well as the country will lag behind among the competing countries as far as the logistic cost is concerned."
