Oil prices surge more than 6% as Israel strikes Iran

TOKYO, June 13, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Oil prices surged more than six percent on Friday as Israel launched what it called a "preemptive strike" on Iran.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the main US oil contract, was trading 6.3 percent higher at $72.29 per barrel, while Brent North Sea crude was up 5.7 percent at $73.29.
