Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange 
(DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged due to mainly price 
fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, fell by 17.3 points to settle at 5,492 
points as against 5,510 points in the previous trading session. 

However, market turnover increased by 9.4% to Taka 7.4 billion from Taka 6.7 
billion in the previous session. 

On the sectoral front, Textile (12.3%) issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Pharma (11.5%) and Bank (10.1%) sectors.

Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, out of which Financial 
Institutions (-1.3%), Bank (-1.3%) and Paper (-0.5%) exerted the most 
corrections on the bourse today, while Services (1.9%), Textile (1.2%) and 
Life Insurance (0.8%) exhibited slight positive returns. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 122 advanced, 187 declined and 88 remained 
unchanged. 

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on red terrain. The Selective 
Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 12.7 
points and 18.2 points, respectively.
