External debt servicing rises in July-August

DHAKA, Sept 28, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh's external debt servicing has surged 
to US$667.11 million in the first two months of the current fiscal year 
(FY26), according to data from the Economic Relations Division (ERD) released 
here today.

Of the amount, the government repaid $488.79 million in principal and $178.32 
million in interest during the July-August period of FY26, compared to 
$415.62 million in principal and $173.60 million in interest during the same 
period of the previous fiscal year (FY25).

Meanwhile, development partners disbursed $750.06 million in the July-August 
period of this fiscal year, up from $458.24 million in the same period of the 
previous fiscal year (FY25).

During this period, the government received commitments of around $243.81 
million, compared to $20.16 million during the same period of the last fiscal 
year.
