HTC to treat hemophilia disease in Jashore hospital

JASHORE, Sept 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) has been 
inaugurated at the 250-bed General Hospital in Jashore. 

Jashore Medical College Professor Dr. Abu Hasanat Md. Ahsan Habib formally 
inaugurated the center at the hospital's conference room around 12.30 pm 
today.

A total of 116 factor injection vials were provided for HTC by the Hemophilia 
Society of Bangladesh, which will be used in the treatment of hemophilia 
patients. 

Hospital's superintendent Dr. Hussain Shafayat presided over the function. 

It was also attended, among others, by Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital 
(RMCH) Registrar (Hematology) Dr. Maruf Al Hasan, Department Head of Medicine 
Department (Transfusion Medicine Department) of Jashore Medical College Dr. 
Selim Reza, Chief Physiotherapist of Firoza Bari Diabel Children's Hospital 
and Director of Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad Yasmin Ara Dolly, President 
of Hemophilia Society of Bangladesh Nazmul Alam, President of the Society's 
Jashore branch Naser Mustafiz, hemophilia patients and their relatives. 

The speakers at the event said that 13 factors or proteins work to stop 
bleeding in the body. Bleeding that does not stop when cut anywhere on the 
body and bleeding for a long time are symptoms of this disease. 

Hemophilia patients can be identified by swelling of the joints of the hands 
and feet, bleeding from the teeth, they added. 

The speakers said that from now on hemophilia patients will get free 
treatment and medicines at this center.
