CHATTOGRAM, Oct 19, 2025 (BSS) – Transport workers suspended their strike at Chattogram port as the authorities revoked its decision of the increased gate pass fee for vehicles entering the port for container transportation.

The decision was announced by Chattogram port secretary Md. Omar Faruk after discussions with transport workers and owner representatives this afternoon.

“Following a series of discussion with workers and owners, chaired by the port chairman, it was decided that the port administration cannot immediately rectify the government-approved gazette. However, in consideration of the transport workers, the increased gate pass fee has been suspended for transports until a further decision is made,” Omar Faruk added.

The workers and owner representatives have confirmed their commitment to resume work. Approximately 6,000 trucks and covered vans are waiting outside, and they will now be utilized for import-exports activities at the port.
