Stocks extend losing streak

DHAKA, Dec 01, 2025 (BSS) - Stocks today extended its losing streak as cautious investors continued paring back their market exposure.
 
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), lost 64.0 points and settled at 4,915 points as against 4,979 points in the previous trading session.
 
Meanwhile, market turnover declined by 15.6% to Taka 4.2 billion from Taka 5.0 billion in the previous session.
 
 On the sectoral front, Textile (14.1%) accounted for the highest share of turnover, followed by Engineering (13.4%) and Pharma (10.1%). All the sectors displayed negative returns, out of which Life Insurance (-3.6%), Paper (-3.3%) and Jute (-2.8%) exerted the most corrections on the bourse today.
 
Of the 397 issues traded, 37 advanced, 318 declined, and 42 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a negative zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) fell by 72.8 points and 123.7 points, respectively.
