DHAKA, Dec 21, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today plunged as deteriorating investor sentiment pushed most scrip into the red.

However, DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, edged down by 4.9 points to settle at 4,826 points as against 4,831 points in the previous trading session, since the market extended the lingering downbeat momentum from the previous week that kept market indices under stress for most of the session.

Meanwhile, market turnover fell by 3.3% to Taka 2.9 billion from Taka 3.0 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, Food (15.4%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (14.7%) and Engineering (11.8%) sectors. Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Jute (1.9%), Services (1.1%) and Tannery (0.8%) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today, while Cement (-1.2%), Travel (-0.9%) and Mutual Fund (-0.5%) exerted the most corrections.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 160 advanced, 156 declined and 81 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a red zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 38.6 points and 63.2 points, respectively.
