Foreign aid commitments jump to $2.27b during July-Jan of FY26

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - Foreign aid commitments to Bangladesh from the development partners rose in the first seven months (July-January) of the current fiscal year (FY26).

According to an updated report released by the Economic Relations Division (ERD) today, Bangladesh signed new loan agreements or received commitments worth about US$2.27 billion from development partners between July and January.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year (FY25), commitments stood at $2.35 billion.

ERD officials said that with the overall situation improving, the volume of new commitments has increased significantly.

According to ERD data, foreign loan disbursements also increased during the July–January period.

Development partners disbursed $2.64 billion during the July-January period, while Bangladesh repaid a significant amount.

During July–January of the current fiscal year (FY26), Bangladesh paid $2.67 billion in principal and interest on various foreign loans.
