
RAJSHAHI, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - At the monthly law and order committee meeting of Paba Upazila in Rajshahi, Member of Parliament for Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur), Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, instructed authorities to take strict stance against drugs and illegal pond excavation.
He called on the concerned administration to adopt a “zero tolerance” policy in this regard.
Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting held today at the Paba Upazila Parishad conference room, MP Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon said drugs have become a major threat to society.
Not only retail sellers, but also the main masterminds behind drug trafficking must be identified and brought under the law. He emphasized strengthening surveillance in border areas and conducting coordinated drives by law enforcement agencies.
He said that regardless of political affiliation, strict action must be taken against those involved in illegal pond digging.
Ahead of the upcoming Eid, the traffic division was urged to take necessary measures to restore discipline on highways, ease traffic congestion, and prevent accidents.
The meeting was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arafat Aman Aziz. Special guests included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, Upazila Engineer Maqbul Hossain and Upazila BNP Convener Ali Hossain.
Representatives from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), officials from various police stations, and officers from different departments of the upazila parishad were also present.
