2 Rangpur eateries fined Tk 90,000 for consumer rights violations

RANGPUR, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court fined two eateries a total of Taka 90,000 for violating rules, regulations and consumer rights at the Keranipra area of the city on Thursday afternoon.
 
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection jointly initiated and conducted the court at the Kachari Bazar area under Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station in the city, a press release said tonight.
 
The court fined Mouban Bakery Taka 80,000 and Modhumoti Mishti Bhandar Taka 10,000 for not using product packaging, mixing prohibited substances in food and manufacturing products through illegal processes.
 
"In addition, RAB-13's intelligence activities and ongoing operations will continue to implement the zero tolerance policy against crimes such as illegal hoarding, selling products at excessive prices and food adulteration," the release added.
