CHATTOGRAM, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court, led by BSTI in collaboration with RAB and the Department of Food Safety, fined four commercial organizations a total of Tk 3.67 lakh for various offenses, including producing food with harmful chemicals in the Bakalia area of the city.

RAB-7 Assistant Director ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed that the fines were imposed on the organizations during a special operation conducted by the mobile court on Thursday morning.

RAB reported that unethical businessmen in the Baklia police station area have been deceiving the public by producing food in unhygienic conditions, using harmful chemicals, and selling it without BSTI approval. To address this issue, a joint operation involving RAB-7, BSTI, and the Department of Safe Food was conducted.

Four organizations, including Delwar Food Products, were fined a total of Tk 3.67 lakh. They were also warned to avoid such practices in the future. RAB-7 Assistant Director ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the operation and stated that efforts to combat dishonest traders will continue to ensure reasonable prices and prevent adulteration during Ramadan.
